Commute cost calculator
What does your daily ride really cost?
Petrol is only part of it. Add servicing and insurance and see the honest monthly number. Change any value; the result updates as you type.
How this is worked out
Petrol per month is your monthly distance divided by your mileage, times the petrol price. Servicing and insurance are yearly bills, so they are split evenly across twelve months and added on, along with parking. Cost per km is the monthly total divided by the kilometres you ride.
Why use your real mileage?
The mileage in a brochure is measured in lab conditions. In city traffic most commuter bikes and scooters return noticeably less. Fill up to the brim twice and divide the kilometres between fills by the litres you added the second time: that is your real figure.
What is not included
The price of the bike itself, loan interest, and resale value. Those matter when you buy, and the petrol vs EV calculator takes the upfront price into account.
